Two companies quote the same SNA-to-Disneyland run, same Saturday, same four people. One says $95. The other says $210. Both call themselves all-inclusive.
Neither is lying. That gap is the whole problem with shopping for a limo in Orange County. So here is the short answer: $85 to $125 an hour for a black sedan, $110 to $150 for an SUV, and roughly $400 to $900 for a typical evening once the four-hour minimum and gratuity land.
We run a chauffeured car company here, so weight what follows accordingly. But we quote these trips every week, and we'd rather hand you real numbers, including the ones where you shouldn't hire us, than have you find out at 11pm that the price moved.
Everything below is a typical market range for Southern California as of October 2026, not our rate card. Rates swing by date, vehicle, and route. The only firm number is a quote.
How much does a limo cost per hour in Orange County?
Expect roughly $85 to $125 an hour for a black sedan, $110 to $150 for an SUV, and $130 to $185 for a Sprinter van. Most companies set a three or four hour minimum on hourly work. Gratuity, airport fees, and tolls usually sit on top.
Here's the range by vehicle class. Our limo fleet lists seats and bag capacity for each one.
| Vehicle | Seats | Typical hourly | Usual minimum |
|---|---|---|---|
| Black sedan (Mercedes E-Class, Cadillac) | 1–3 | $85–$125 | 3 hours |
| Black SUV (Escalade, Range Rover) | up to 6 | $110–$150 | 3 hours |
| Sprinter van | up to 14 | $130–$185 | 3–4 hours |
| Stretch limo | 8–10 | $120–$175 | 4 hours |
| Party bus | 20–30 | $150–$375 | 4 hours |
National aggregators quote $160 to $300+ an hour for a "sedan limo," because they resell someone else's car.
Why two quotes for the same trip come out $200 apart
Three things move the number. None is profit margin.
Distance versus time. A flat airport rate is priced on miles and drive time, so LAX to Anaheim costs the same whether you hit traffic or not. Hourly work runs on the clock. Same trip, wildly different total. Ask which you're being quoted.
The date. A Tuesday in February and a Saturday in October are different markets. Prom season, wedding season, and big convention weeks in Anaheim carry higher minimums. Normal. Not being told up front is not.
What's included. A $400 quote that excludes gratuity, fuel, and tolls is a $520 bill.
What airport transfers cost from SNA, LAX, and LGB
One-way market ranges, before gratuity.
| Route | Approx. miles | Sedan | SUV | Sprinter |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SNA → Disneyland / Anaheim | 15 | $85–$135 | $120–$190 | $165–$260 |
| SNA → Irvine | 8 | $75–$115 | $100–$150 | $140–$200 |
| SNA → Newport Beach | 9 | $80–$120 | $105–$155 | $145–$205 |
| LGB → Anaheim | 13 | $80–$130 | $110–$170 | $155–$215 |
| LAX → Anaheim | 35–40 | $150–$225 | $185–$275 | $270–$390 |
| LAX → Newport Beach | 45 | $165–$240 | $200–$290 | $290–$410 |
Those mileages follow Disneyland's own airport guidance: SNA sits about 15 miles from the park, LGB about 13, LAX roughly 40. Drive time is the part nobody can quote honestly. LAX to Anaheim runs 45 to 90 minutes, and a bad weekday afternoon blows past two hours.
One detail worth knowing: at SNA, ground transportation picks up at the Ground Transportation Center on the garage level, a short walk from baggage claim, so a hired car has no curbside edge there. At LAX it's the reverse. UberX, UberXL, Lyft, and taxis load at LAX-it, reached by shuttle, while licensed sedans and limos still collect you at the terminal curb. LAWA's announcement of the system is explicit that LAX-it applies to taxis and ride apps, not chauffeured vehicles.
There's more per-airport detail in our SNA and LAX airport transfer guide.
Three real bookings, priced out
1. SNA to Disneyland, family of four
Two adults, two kids in car seats, four checked bags. Fifteen miles, maybe 25 minutes. It's the SNA to Disneyland transfer most families book.
- Black SUV, flat rate market range: $120–$190, call it $150
- Gratuity at 18% if it isn't already in the rate: about $27
- All-in: roughly $177, one payment, no meter
An UberXL on that route runs $45 to $75 on a calm Sunday, $95 to $110 when the airport is slammed. A shared shuttle is $20 to $35 a person, so $80 to $140 for four, plus two or three hotel stops.
So the black SUV runs about $100 to $130 more than a calm-day UberXL, and about $70 to $80 more when the airport is jammed. The shortest transfer in the county is also the one where surge closes most of the gap. That's the trade: a fitted car seat and a driver tracking the flight.
2. LAX to Anaheim, family of five
Five people, six bags, Friday at 4pm. Thirty-five miles that will feel like fifty.
- Black SUV, flat: $185–$275, midpoint $230
- Gratuity at 18%: about $41
- All-in: roughly $271
Hauling a stroller and a golf bag? A Sprinter is $270 to $390 before gratuity, landing near $320 to $460.
An UberXL is $100 to $145 in a quiet hour, $170 to $220 when Friday traffic and surge stack.
The difference is physical. Rideshare at LAX means moving five people and six bags to LAX-it first. Fine alone with a backpack. With a four-year-old and a stroller, it's the worst 15 minutes of the trip.
Crossover: at four or more passengers with luggage, a flat SUV lands $50 to $100 above a surge-priced UberXL and deletes the LAX-it leg. Below three passengers with carry-ons, take the Uber. Anaheim pickup zones are covered in our Disneyland and Convention Center guide.
3. Four hours in Newport and Costa Mesa
Eight people, Saturday in October, ceremony in Corona del Mar, reception in Costa Mesa. Maybe 22 miles of driving spread over five hours.
- Sprinter at $130–$185 an hour, four-hour minimum: $520 to $740
- Gratuity at 20%: $104 to $148
- All-in: roughly $625 to $890
A black SUV seats six, so a smaller group pays $440 to $600 before tip, or about $528 to $720 all in. A stretch lands between them at $480 to $700 plus tip. Wedding pricing moves more than any other booking, so if this is your trip, our wedding transportation service covers minimums and the Orange County wedding limo guide walks through the timeline.
Most people book the van anyway. Not because they did the arithmetic wrong, but because at 11:40pm outside a venue in Costa Mesa, two Ubers become a 20-minute wait, one cancellation, and someone on the curb holding the gift bag. You're buying the 11:40pm part.
The fees that turn a $400 quote into $520
They only feel sneaky when nobody mentions them until the card is out.
- Gratuity, 15% to 20%. Often pre-added. Ask whether the tip is in the number.
- Airport fees. Charged per trip. Some fold it into the flat rate, some tack it on. Both fine. Surprise is not.
- Booking or service fee. Sometimes $25 to $50, sometimes nothing. Ask if it's in the number.
- Fuel surcharge. Usually $3 to $10, and only on hourly bookings.
- Overtime. Billed at the hourly rate, often per 15 minutes. This is where wedding budgets go sideways.
- Tolls and parking. The 73 and 241 come up on south county routes, and event parking sometimes gets billed back. Confirm included or passed through.
- Deposits. Typically 20% to 50% to hold the vehicle, with a cancellation window attached.
When two Ubers beat a limo
Six or fewer, under 20 miles of driving, no bags left in the car: two Ubers are almost always cheaper. A four-hour minimum covering a 25-minute drive means paying for three and a half hours of a vehicle parked in a lot.
It flips with more than six people, real luggage, car seats, or a hard end time like a flight or a ceremony.
Point-to-point trip, book by the trip. Multi-stop evening with a fixed schedule, book by the hour. A 90-minute airport run at a four-hour minimum costs two and a half times what it should.
Five questions that separate a fair quote from a padded one
1. Flat or hourly, and what starts the clock? Curbside arrival and scheduled pickup are very different numbers.
2. What's the cancellation window, and what exactly do I lose?
3. What happens if my flight lands three hours late? Flight tracking and free wait time should be spelled out.
4. Are car seats included or extra? Some charge $15 to $25 each. Some don't carry them at all.
5. Per vehicle or per person? Shuttles quote per head. Sedans don't. This is how people conclude a limo costs $35.
Car seats, kids, and California law
Under California law, children under 8 must ride in a car seat or booster in the back seat. Kids 8 and older, or who are at least 4 feet 9 inches tall, can use a booster or a seat belt, and children under 2 ride rear-facing unless they weigh 40 pounds or are 40 inches tall. The CHP has the full breakdown.
One change lands January 1, 2027. AB 435 adds a five-step test for children 8 through 15: they can ride on a seat belt alone only if it actually fits, and otherwise stay in a booster. If you're booking into next year, assume a seat is still needed.
Rideshare drivers aren't required to supply seats, and you can't reserve two through an app. That's a real gap at 9pm off a delayed flight. We carry Nuna seats free, and we ask ages and weights at booking so the right one is fitted before you land.
Frequently Asked Questions
Expect $85 to $125 an hour for a black sedan, $110 to $150 for an SUV, and $130 to $185 for a Sprinter, with three to four hour minimums. Flat SNA transfers run $85 to $260 by vehicle, LAX transfers $150 to $390.
Sometimes. An UberXL from LAX to Anaheim is $100 to $145 normally and $170 to $220 at Friday rush, where a flat SUV at $185 to $275 lands. For two travelers with carry-ons, the Uber wins. For four or more with bags, the flat rate costs $50 to $100 more and skips the LAX-it shuttle.
The vehicle and driver are blocked for the whole window, not just the drive. A four-hour minimum on a 25-minute trip is a bad deal for you, so ask for a flat transfer rate on point-to-point trips.
Many don't, and some charge $15 to $25 per seat. We include Nuna car seats free on any booking. Tell the company your children's ages and weights so the right seat is fitted.
Two to three weeks is comfortable for airport transfers and nights out. Two to four months for weddings, prom, and anything in December.
Mostly through minimums rather than hourly rates. Saturday weddings, prom season, New Year's Eve, and large Anaheim convention weeks often carry four to six hour minimums.
